La Dernière Vague - Last Wave

This painting was inspired by my numerous outings to the Lost Coast in Northern California. It was birthed after many hours of contemplation at all hours of the day, during all seasons of the year... This painting was done in oils on plywood which offered a slick but not perfect surface. Since I associate wood and plywood to sailboats, all the way from childhood memories, I felt it was a meaningful substrate on which to paint our mighty ocean.
